Teacher: Tashieka Burris Ph.D. (Candidate)

Teacher: Sharna Grandison M.Sc.
Owed much to the chagrin of my mother I allowed my head to wrap around the idea of going to Teachers’ College at age seventeen (17). I soon found that the vocation, teaching, offered me among other things, a great opportunity for social and intellectual interaction, and inevitably, transformation. Having fourteen (14) years of classroom experience at the Ordinary and Advanced levels (with the latter involving students from different Caribbean countries) my spectrum has broadened and I comfortably admit “I have not only been able to effect positive changes in students but they have had a profound effect on my growth and development as a person and as an educator.” Now, my classrooms have evolved into sites where self actualization is a reciprocal process and fun and excitement while learning, is a natural part of this process.

Teacher: Christine Pratt M.A.
I have been an educator for over 13 years. I currently teach CSEC English Language in a secondary school and I am a qualified Early Childhood Specialist. I have also lectured at the Shortwood Teacher’s College and supervised teachers in training on practicum. I hold a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelor of Arts Degree and Post Graduate Teaching Diplomas in both Secondary and Early Childhood Education. With so many years of experience in teaching English Language and a good success rate in passes, I am sure that my methods will encourage your full potential at pursuing this course. Education is a worthwhile investment; one that cannot be taken from

Teacher: Mazielin Williams M.A
Mazielin Williams of Kingston, Jamaica has been a teacher for twelve (12) years; spending the last eleven at the Holy Childhood High School. She currently teaches English A at all levels, English B at grades seven to nine and CAPE Communication Studies. Her dream to become a teacher began at Mico Teachers’ college where she earned a teaching Diploma in English and history. Here, she won the Grace Kennedy Award for “The best Teacher of English” among two other awards. Determined to complete her quest in becoming a teacher, she subsequently acquired her Bachelors in English and her Masters in English at the University of the West Indies. Her students describe her as “humorous” and “one of the best teachers ever.” Ms Williams prides herself in having a passion and a natural aptitude for the teaching design and so immensely enjoys her profession. With God as her master teacher coupled with experience and skill, she continues to do an excellent job.

Teacher: Letecia Hyman B.A I have always dreamed of being a teacher. I started out my formal education at Waldensia Primary School in Sherwood Content Trelawny Jamaica. In first grade, I decided that I wanted to teach first grade. My teacher was so fun to be around and had an influence on me wanting to become a teacher. Through my primary school and high school years, I could not wait to go to college and begin my dream. By the time I was a student in high school my dream of becoming a teacher has become a reality one day when I was given the opportunity to be a teacher for a day. As soon as I graduated High School, I took the chance of applying to Sam Sharpe Teachers’ College where I was accepted. I was enrolled as an Education student and had specialized in Primary Education. After graduating from college with a diploma in Primary Education, I got a Job as a teacher at Mount Salem Primary and Junior High school, but with my continued pursuance, hard work and hope for a brighter future coupled my mother's words of wisdom, I worked full time and study at Northern Caribbean University part to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Primary Education. There I made Honor Roll for two consecutive year and graduated with honor degree in Primary Education. It is my desire to mold young lives and help children build a solid educational foundation so as to have a brighter future. Teacher: Tanice Powell BSc.
